Compro expands our capabilities in simulation with the purchase of the Radar Toolkit (formerly CamberRTK in Dallas, Tx.) Compro also retains the staff and office in Dallas to continue seamless support and updates for current and future RTK customers. Radar Toolkit Compro Simulation's Radar Toolkit® provides the most comprehensive real-time radar simulation software package currently available. A Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) product, the Radar Toolkit® provides a flexible basis for the simulation of both current and future radar systems in support of training and engineering applications. The Radar Toolkit® is in use around the world in support of every type of radar simulation from Full Flight Simulators and Classroom Desktop Trainers to Avionic design and engineering projects. ` Flexible The Radar Toolkit® (RTK) is written in C and C++ and runs on both Windows and Linux workstations, as well as embedded systems. The RTK consists of software libraries and an API for custom implementations of real-time radar simulations. The RTK can run standalone in the most basic uses, or because of its HLA & CIGI compliance it can be easily integrated into complex systems such as flight training aircraft. Accurate The RTK simulation is a complex, real-world, energy level model of the interaction between emitted radio transmissions and the simulated environment. Its component-based design allows easy configuration of complex radar scenarios including weather, aircraft, ships, and vehicles, which the RTK combines into a single and accurately modeled result. Optional modules can allow a user-definable resolution from over 500 feet down to 1 foot and smaller. Comprehensive The RTK provides support for the majority of airborne radar modes used today. The Radar Toolkit® software’s feature-rich user interface produces the most complete collection of radar modes, features and options of any radar software package on the market today. Matched with our robust API, the Radar Toolkit® can be customized to communicate with a wide variety of interfaces.

User Interface The standard system can run stand-alone or as an integrated part of a trainer. A graphical interface provided with the system includes a host emulator; the stand-alone mode displays the radar image in an OpenGL window on the system console, and the user can readily manipulate normal radar controls and simulation specific parameters. These controls give the user the capability to control characteristics of the radar simulation, thus allowing them to test and demonstrate the effects of changes. The Radar Toolkit® can be used as a teaching tool or a fully integrated simulation in a pilot trainer. Host Interface The user has complete control over the interface between the Radar Toolkit® and the simulation host computer, and can easily add capability or adapt to a new simulation host computer or interface device. The standard interface between the host and the Radar Toolkit® is Ethernet, including support for many popular protocols such as HLA, DIS, UDP, TCP/IP, CIGI and shared memory interfaces. The Radar Toolkit® has been interfaced with a wide variety of computers including Encore, Concurrent, Digital Equipment, Harris, and others, using Ethernet, 1553, Systran ScramNet, Encore HSD, Digital DR11-W and Reflective memory interface boards. Weather Radar Weather radar simulation is supported in the Radar Toolkit® by a weather model that provides irregularly shaped rain cells with multiple levels of precipitation. This enables such radar weather modes as Iso-Echo. Multiple weather patterns can be displayed simultaneously, and rain cells interact accurately with the other components of the simulation. Rain cells generate radar returns and attenuate returns from other rain cells, returns from targets, returns from terrain, and emissions from jammers. The weather patterns can be placed anywhere in the gaming area and may move dynamically based on host inputs such as the wind direction and wind speed. Moving Models The Radar Toolkit® has been proven to support over 20,000 moving models. The number of moving models is user controlled, and each model is defined by a lookup table of radar cross section (RCS) values. The RCS is aspect-dependent and is used to compute the return signal level for the target. Radar Display Interface The Radar Toolkit® can utilize the graphics hardware to generate the radar image display; hence, any display format supported by the graphics hardware will be supported by a Toolkit-based radar simulation (the standard COTS Radar Toolkit® outputs an OpenGL display). Alternatively, the Toolkit can use an independent programmable graphics board such as Compro’s 8510 Video Board, 7010 ARINC 453/708A Video Board, or a custom display board.
